Privacy Protection Service believes that every American has an individual right to privacy, and that urine testing is an invasion of that right.
Amendment IV- Right of search and seizure regulated. Ratified 12/15/1791.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
When an individual submits their urine to someone for a so-called URINE TEST, the individual is giving a well full of information about their self to this someone. This someone can (will, probably does) look for things that may have nothing to do with drug abuse, but they can (will, probably do) check for pregnancy, prescribed medications, and even get samples of DNA. Then what happens to the information obtained from these URINE TESTS? This question may never be answered but the information could be (will be, probably is being) used to discriminate against individuals for pregnancy, hypertension, diabetes, depression, the list goes on and on. Why do companies need to take your urine, blood, and hair? Except for the purpose of genetic discrimination. These type of illegal searches and seizures could (probably will) lead to an atrocity such as other types of discrimination have in history.
These URINE TESTS are no assurance of safety or quality. If an individual submits clean urine on test day that doesn't mean he won't be stoned out of his mind that very night. We at PPS believe that impairment testing is the only way to come close to assuring safety. That is why PPS would like to see impairment testing become the standard SAFETY TESTING method used in America. This is a better way to assure safety and it keeps prying eyes out of our body.
Why not impairment testing? If the government were to implement impairment testing as the standard SAFETY TESTING method, it would change the American Economy. It all comes down to money. Billions are spent each year by large corporations for urine testing. Even though our government knows urine testing is not doing anything to assure the safety of the public, they can't change the game they are playing. It would cost way too much to do away with the URINE TESTING labs and implement impairment testing. Even though a sleepless trucker couldn't pass an impairment test, at a check point! Is his pee clean??? Should pee matter? What should matter is; is he impaired?
The Great State of South Carolina recently introduced a bill to outlaw the "sale or giving away of urine for the purpose of tainting or tampering a drug test." They have way too much time on their hands! This bill is aimed at putting PPS out of business. SC State Senator David Thomas says, "The safety of the public is at stake here." Get real Senator! We all know the money in your pocket is at stake. If South Carolina doesn't want PPS in business, the implementation of impairment testing would put us out! We don't want drug addicts flying planes or driving buses any more than anyone, but urine testing is the wrong way to go about things, and putting PPS out of business is not going to assure the safety of anyone.
Amendment XIV - Citizenship rights not to be abridged. Ratified 7/9/1868.
1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
